Photos: Voice Intensive Festival
Every academic year, the Omaha Conservatory hosts festivals for each of our areas of study by department. For this year’s Voice Intensive Festival, we had the honor of hosting Mark Moliterno – an accomplished professional opera singer, voice teacher, yoga teacher, IAYT-certified Yoga Therapist, workshop leader, and author – for a special educational opportunity with our voice students. Mark and guest artist Barbara González-Palmer (piano) kicked off the festival with an incredible evening concert on Friday, June 18 that featured works by Copland, Schubert, Fauré and others. Thank you to Omaha Steaks for sponsoring this concert for our students and community.
The next day, students from our voice department participated in technique classes for varying levels, masterclasses, Romantic Period study with Dr. Ken Meints, and other sessions focused on the yoga, body, and voice connection. Our featured guest artist Mark Moliterno led classes with additional teaching by Conservatory voice faculty Rachel Aalund Griggs, Cody Jorgensen and Karina Brazas. Thank you to all who attend this incredible day of music education and made such an impact on these students!
