Roll with Rhythm Explorers
Drums are some of the most versatile musical instruments. From bass drums to timpani, rock bands to philharmonics are known to use them in their ensembles. Learn more about these versatile instruments at OCoM in a welcoming group class!
Who can register for Rhythm Explorers?
We offer this group class to anyone ages 6-12 and 18+. No previous musical experience is required, but we do require a positive attitude and enthusiasm to learn!
Are instruments provided for this class?
Yes! We provide drums for every student.
What techniques and styles are taught within classes?
Students ages 6-12 will learn Street Beats with Omaha Street Percussion. This class includes learning a visually appealing, highly energetic form of drumming on pots, pans, trash cans and more!
Students ages 18+ will learn the dynamic and powerful style of Japanese Taiko Drumming with Tokyo Taiko. Along with proper playing position and technique, students will learn how instruments are made, the history & culture of Japanese Taiko Drumming and how to play cooperatively in an ensemble.
When and what times does Rhythm Explorers take place?
Our winter session runs from January 8-February 26, 2024. The different age groups will meet once per week at different times, as listed below:
- Ages 6-12: Tuesdays 6-7 p.m. | Omaha Street Beats
- Ages 18+: Mondays from 7-8 p.m. | Japanese Taiko Drumming
Caregiver attendance is mandatory for students ages 6-8.
How much do classes cost?
