Photo Album & Video: Stories from Childhood Concert
Over the last eight weeks, 4th through 8th grade Conservatory students have been working diligently to write, score, produce, and perform original stories as part of our Stories from Childhood program.
In years past, the Conservatory commissioned composers to score works based on existing children’s stories which were then performed by our talented Artist-Faculty. This year, we wanted to give OCoM students the opportunity to create their own pieces from scratch – including writing the story, scoring the music, creating the visual artwork, and then performing the pieces in front of an audience. We partnered with producer Marcey Yates, singer/songwriter Victoria Ortega and visual artist Rosalia Alexis to coach the students throughout the eight-week program. It was absolutely thrilling seeing the pieces come to life on stage in the final concert!
You can check out the photos from the concert below – as well as all of the final stories that the students created as a Youtube playlist! Thank you so much to everyone who was involved in this year’s Stories from Childhood!
A big thank you to our program sponsors Debbi & Speedy Zweiback for making this program possible!
