All You Need to Know About Strings | SoundWaves 2021
You won’t bow-lieve the line up of incredible music educators we’ve snagged for SoundWaves 2021.
Each year, our summer music camp SoundWaves brings incredible musicians from across the world to work with camp-goers. Here’s a preview of just some of the esteemed strings players rounding out our guest-artist faculty:
Omaha Symphony Conductor Ernest Richardson will be teaching classes in orchestra and chamber music. His impressive musicianship is matched by his skill as an educator, and students working with Ernest this summer are sure to gain much from their time with the conductor, composer, arranger, organizational leader and inspirational speaker.
Treesa Gold is one of many amazing violin guest-artist faculty gracing SoundWaves 2021. Treesa began studying violin at age two with renowned Suzuki pedagogue, Alice Joy Lewis. Mrs. Gold earned a Bachelor of Music and a Performer’s Diploma with Paul Biss at Indiana University, during which, she won a national audition with the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra in New Orleans, where she played from 2004 to 2006.
Mikaela Seo is a violist and violinist from Illinois well-versed in Suzuki instruction. She serves as director of SIUE String Development Camp in Edwardsville, IL, and plays with the Salem-St. Louis Chamber Orchestra. Her husband, Jun Seo, will also be joining SoundWaves 2021 guest-artist faculty, teaching cello.
Patty Ritchie will join SoundWaves 2021 as an orchestra, cello and chamber music guest-artist faculty member. She has extensive experience in music education, having taught orchestra in Omaha and Millard Public Schools for almost 40 years. Patty’s career has been rich and varied – she’s served as a guest conductor and clinician, private lessons instructor, performed for movie soundtracks and more!
Matt Gold is a bassist and chamber musician from Richmond, Virginia. He became enamored with the double bass as a child and has been playing to this day. Matt teaches classical bass at the College of William and Mary and runs a private studio, too! He’s a member of Richmond rock band Goldrush, in which he plays – you guessed it! – double bass.
