Omaha Conservatory of Music’s Board of Directors is excited to announce that the Conservatory’s long standing Executive Director, Ruth Meints, will transition into the role of Artistic Director within the organization.
Meints joined the Omaha Conservatory in 2005 and over the past 18 years has solidified and expanded the Conservatory’s mission of building a diverse musical community to enrich lives through education and performance. Under Meints’s leadership, Omaha Conservatory of Music:
-
- Increased the student body from 165 to 2500
-
- Developed from a small, local arts organization with an annual budget of $365,000 to a nationally-recognized music institution with a $4.2 million annual budget.
-
- Facilitated the renovation and move into the Conservatory’s building and campus on 7023 Cass St.
-
- Built strategic partnerships regionally and nationally for the Conservatory’s String Sprouts program
Meints says, “The Omaha Conservatory now ranks among the top community music schools in the country and leads the nation in providing accessibility to excellent music education. I’m excited to focus my expertise on establishing the Omaha Conservatory as a thought leader in the industry through innovative music programming for our community and beyond.”
With the Conservatory continuing to see massive increases in student enrollment numbers, this expansion of the organizational infrastructure prepares the Conservatory for current growth forecasts in all areas of educational programming and community engagement, including the use of the String Sprouts curriculum across the country.
A national search is currently underway for a new Omaha Conservatory of Music Executive Director. The job posting is available here: omahacm.org/job-openings/ Meints will work with the Board of Directors to find the next Executive Director and continue in the role until it is filled. It is the priority of the Board of Directors to maintain a stable and effective organization for students and families.
