- String Sprouts (violin/cello): Completed Level 1, 2, or 3 by summer 2026
- Be prepared to perform a polished piece in your masterclass.
- All half-day campers must be accompanied by a Caregiver.
- If you’re staying for lunchtime, bring a sack lunch.

- Daily 12:45 PM concerts, including a camper recital and the Variety Show! (Half-day campers and Caregivers are welcome to stay for these concerts.)

- Caregiver attendance is required for campers 8 and younger.
- Be prepared to perform a polished piece in your masterclass.
- Placement video is required. Campers will be placed in classes with other campers at a similar skill level.
- Campers should bring a sack lunch and a water bottle.

- Cello: Suzuki Book 4+ (or equivalent)
- Prior training in the Suzuki Method is not required. (If early Suzuki Method has been studied, advanced campers will support younger campers by playing on the Repertoire Class concert.)
- Placement video is required. Campers will be placed in classes with other campers at a similar skill level.

Camper Information
Hours & Schedule
GENERAL STUDENT SCHEDULE
- All programming takes place inside the Omaha Conservatory of Music, at 7023 Cass Street, in Omaha, Nebraska.
- Campers and Caregivers are welcome to arrive starting at 8:30 AM. Camp begins daily with an 8:45 AM faculty performance.
- Classes run from 9:00 AM to 4:20 PM.
- Half-day campers and their Caregivers only attend classes until 11:50 AM. They are welcome to stay on site for the daily lunchtime concert, which begins at 12:45 PM.
- Monday morning will include camp check-in, orientation, and a play-in.
- Friday afternoon will include concerts (Suzuki Repertoire, orchestras, and chamber ensembles).
Program Curriculum
Depending on their level, campers will take part in a combination of the following: Masterclass, Technique class, Repertoire class, Chamber ensemble, Enrichment class, and an Orchestra appropriate to their level and experience. Each full-day camper will also have one practice hour built into their day.
- Masterclass – In a masterclass, 2-4 campers learn together through individual attention from the teacher. Each camper will perform a polished piece and receive individual feedback to level up their playing.
- Technique Class – This class focuses on developing technical musical skills on the instrument.
- Repertoire Class – This class utilizes Suzuki repertoire appropriate for specific levels and instruments to explore musical growth. Every Repertoire class will perform during the final concert on Friday afternoon.
- Orchestra – In this large ensemble with multiple instruments, students will learn to play together with a conductor. Orchestras will perform during the final concert on Friday afternoon.
- Chamber Ensemble – Advanced campers will be placed in small chamber groups with other students at similar skill levels. Chamber groups will be coached during the week and will perform during the final concert on Friday afternoon.
- Enrichment Class – Younger campers will create visual art with Shelby Audiss from the Joslyn Museum of Art. Older campers will engage in body mapping workshops with Licensed Body Mapping Educator Madison Booth. (Learn more about body mapping here.)

FOOD
- Campers should bring a sack lunch and a water bottle daily. Please note that a refrigerator will not be available for lunch storage during the day.
- Myrtle & Cypress (the coffee shop inside OCoM) will be open during camp. Check out their menu here.
- Campers and Caregivers can eat lunch inside Myrtle & Cypress, outdoors on the patio or grounds, or in the OCoM lobby. Please don’t eat in studios or practice rooms.

Placement Videos
Campers will be asked to submit a placement video for faculty to reference when creating camper schedules.
You will need to share your video with us as a link. To do this, you’ll need to upload your video to a platform like YouTube, Vimeo, or Google Drive. This video helps ensure our Artist-Faculty places your student in the appropriate ensembles and masterclasses.

Refund/Withdrawal Policy
When a student withdraws, a full refund can be issued until May 8, 2026. No refunds will be given after May 8, 2026.

Financial Aid
Financial aid for Suzuki Institute and Advanced String Academy 2026 is available! To be eligible, you must be a current student at Omaha Conservatory of Music and already receive financial aid or be currently enrolled in String Sprouts.
Your aid offer will be determined by the amount of financial aid you receive during the academic year.

Prerequisites & Requirements
- Participants must have completed Suzuki Violin Unit 1 and be active members of the Suzuki Association of the Americas (SAA).
- Each participant should bring their own violin, a copy of Suzuki Violin Book 2, and the accompanying recording.
- 100% attendance is required to receive credit for the course.
