String Sprouts are violin, viola, cello, and bass classes that aim to bring music education to pre-school-aged children in the Omaha-Council Bluffs metro area — and beyond — at no or limited costs to families. Instrument included!
A revolutionary music education program created by Ruth Meints, Executive Director of the Conservatory, String Sprouts was founded in 2013 by Omaha Conservatory of Music as Violin Sprouts, adding Cello Sprouts, Viola Sprouts, and Bass Sprouts by 2019.
How We Do What We Do
In 2023–24, 12 lead teachers and 31 assistants taught 934 String Sprouts at 14 locations across the Omaha-Council Bluffs metro area, as well as in Scottsbluff, Nebraska.
String Sprouts is funded by generous individuals, foundations, and grants with the aim of changing the lives of children by providing them with high-quality violin, viola, and cello instruction at no or limited cost to caregivers.
