Photos: Musical Bridges Strings Festival 2021
A two-day strings festival for Conservatory students lead by guest artists The Helios Trio!
Every academic year, the Omaha Conservatory hosts area festivals for each of our areas of study. This year, our Musical Bridges Strings Festival explored the connections in music with our incredible guest artists in residence, The Helios Trio! The Helios Trio – comprised of Dr. John Fadial (violin), Dr. Beth Vanderborgh (cello), and Dr. Chi-Chen Wu (piano) – is a dynamic ensemble based out of the University of Wyoming Department of Music. Their rich diverse backgrounds as performers combine to produce probing and passionate interpretations of the great piano trio repertoire and have brought them international acclaim. Wu, Fadial, and Vanderborgh are dedicated to education and building audiences for the future, and are highly involved in music outreach. We were thrilled to have them on campus teaching alongside our own Artist-Faculty for this wonderful day of music-making within our strings department and students. Our Strings Festival included classes for all levels, including a rep class, tech class, and a master class taught by Conservatory Artist-Faculty and all three of our guest artists. To cap things off, The Helios Trio performed works by Zoltán Kodály and Maurice Ravel in an evening performance that was open to the public and also live-streamed on our Facebook page. Check out photos from the two-day event below!
