Lisa Nielsen
Violin, Viola, Suzuki
Lisa Nielsen has been an active Suzuki violin teacher in Lincoln and Omaha for more than 25 years. Lisa is committed to developing and nurturing students music experience through solo performance, chamber music and orchestra performances. Lisa has completed all 10 Suzuki Violin Book teacher training courses and practicum with notable Suzuki Teacher Trainers Nancy Lokken, Alice Joy Lewis, Marilyn O’Boyle, Susan Levine, Susan Kempter and Doris Pruecil. She has also particpated in advanced pedagogy workshops and coachings with Burton Kaplan, who has written extensively on practicing and performance success.
As a professional violinist, Lisa performs in the Omaha and Lincoln Symphonies, manages Midlands String Quartet, a professional freelance string quartet and has a professional piano & violin duo “Goldenrod Duo” with fellow artist faculty member Dr. Janka Krajciova. During the summer, Lisa is a member of the Lakeside Symphony Orchestra in Lakeside, Ohio. Lisa is adjunct professor of violin and viola at Union College in Lincoln and holds a Bachelor of Music degree from the Mannes College of Music, where she was a student of Shirley Givens, and a Master of Music degree from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln where she was a student of Arnold Schatz. Lisa’s love of chamber music and orchestral literature has taken her to festivals all over the world, including the American Conservatory at Fontainbleau France, Aspen, Grand Teton’s Orchestral Seminar, and Chautauqua in New York, among others.
