Jenn Cooper
Violin
Jenn has been teaching violin and working with orchestras in NE and MO off and on for the past 30 years. She began violin study as a 5 year old in the Suzuki method. After time in the Lincoln Youth Symphony programs she received her B.S. in Violin Performance and a B.S. in Instrumental Music Education K-12 from William Jewell College. She then went on to receive her Master’s degree in Violin Performance from the University of NE – Lincoln where she was a graduate teaching assistant and worked with the undergraduate violin studio. During her schooling she performed with the Lincoln and Omaha Symphonies and played masterclasses with numerous renowned violinists such as Midori, Kurt Nikkanen, Stephen Milenkovich, Dmitri Sitkovetsky, Kyoto Takezawa, and William DePasquale. Jenn was a two time winner of the William Jewell Young Artist Competition and appeared as the featured soloist with the Liberty Symphony Orchestra.
After her schooling, she was the high school orchestra director and orchestral program coordinator for Liberty Public Schools in Liberty, MO, where her symphonic orchestra traveled and won top honors at the Dixie Classic Challenge. She worked as interim faculty at William Jewell College and also worked with the music education department at the University of NE- Lincoln. Jenn has taught in public and private schools in a variety of positions and enjoys teaching strings in numerous capacities from private lessons to large ensembles. While maintaining a private studio at various points during her career, she has worked with students ranging from beginners to collegiate level and loves to provide individual instruction to help students reach their full potential and learn in their own unique way.
In her free time, Jenn enjoys spending time with her husband and six children. Supporting them in their wide range of activities from tennis to horseback riding to theater keeps her busy! If she isn’t with one of her children, she is probably at a thrift store!
